At Finesse Fitness Studio in Maynooth, we offer clients with a variety of fitness and training classes in groups of 5-10 people. If you want to get in the best shape of your life, and receive top-notch coaching, guidance, and accountability, then Small Group Training classes are for you!

Below are the different group training classes we offer at Finesse Fitness in Maynooth:

Total Barre

Barre workouts are designed to give you the long, lean, streamlined physique of a dancer. Barre exercises primarily utilise your own bodyweight as a source of resistance through incorporating aspects of Yoga, Pilates and Ballet. The techniques challenge your core muscles, improving stability, strength and most of all endurance. Barre classes essentially provide an excellent strength and conditioning workout, and work well alongside cardio exercises such as running and cycling. Regular practice is associated with lower body-fat and a leaner, more defined figure.

Classes will incorporate a varying range of props, such as light hand weights, stretch bands, and stability balls as workout tools. Classes are about 50 minutes long, with warm up exercises at the start and cool down stretches at the end of class.

Our Total Barre ™ classes are suitable for all levels, and appropriate for a variety of fitness levels, ages and ability. Our teacher, Karen Murray is a qualified Total Barre ™ instructor with extensive experience in this area, teaching Pilates both mat and Reformer together with the Barre.

Reformer Pilates

Pilates programmes are praised by everyone from athletes to office workers for their ability to develop strength and correct posture in the key areas of the hips/lower back, upper back and neck – basically counteracting the effects of slouching. Any given class will also focus on the areas that people need to work on, namely releasing the typically overactive areas of the chest, upper shoulders, thoracic spine (upper back) and hip flexor muscles as well as activating and strengthening the gluteals, abdominals and shoulder stabilisers. We activate these muscles in isolation and then progressively work them in more compound and dynamic functional movements (movements that you are likely to perform during your daily life).

Matwork Pilates

Anyone can benefit from Pilates and it is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. It is also really helpful for people who are recovering from injury as well as for women who have recently experienced childbirth. Regular Pilates practice strengthens and improves the flexibility of the muscles in the core area (such as the abdominals, the back and the pelvic muscles) and is thus particularly beneficial for those with back problems, postural issues and women before and after childbirth.

Classes are between 45-50 minutes long. Wear comfy clothes that are easy to move around in. We provide thick mats but if you prefer to bring your own we don’t mind

Classes are small, usually between 5-10 people. This way the instructor can make sure that everyone is practicing the movements correctly.

We run level 1 and level 2 classes for people with different levels of experience and ability. If it is your first time or you have not been to a Pilates class in some time we advise that you start in the level 1 class. We don’t run classes in terms, so you can start at any time. Just get in touch before you come to class and we will pop your name down on the list.
