Focused Lymphatic Drainage appointments address one main area of swelling or concern, with related areas included where needed. Clients seeking treatment following surgery should be at least 12 months post-surgery for this appointment.
If your surgery was within the past 12 months, including surgery involving lymph-node removal, choose the Post-Surgery Lymphatic Assessment.

What is lymphatic drainage?
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a specialised, gentle treatment that encourages lymph fluid to move away from swollen tissues towards areas where it can drain more effectively.
What are the benefits?
When suitable for your needs, lymphatic drainage may help to:
- Reduce swelling caused by a build-up of lymph fluid.
- Ease feelings of heaviness, tightness and discomfort associated with swelling.
- Make the affected area feel more comfortable during everyday movement.
For lymphoedema, it usually forms part of a wider treatment plan that may include movement, skin care and compression where appropriate. Results vary according to the cause and extent of the swelling.
How is the treatment performed?
Your appointment begins with a discussion of your medical history, any surgery or treatment, and the area that concerns you.
You’ll rest in a comfortable position while Sinead uses slow, rhythmic hand movements to gently stretch and release the skin. The pressure is light and should not be painful.
Treatment may begin away from the swollen area to prepare the drainage pathways before working towards the area of concern. The sequence is tailored to your needs.
Which appointment should I book?
A Focused Lymphatic Drainage appointment allows 50 minutes to address one main area of concern.
If you are within 12 months of surgery, please choose the longer, 80-minute Post-Surgery Lymphatic Assessment.

Sinead of Everfern Wellness offers Sports Massage and Lymphatic Drainage at our Maynooth clinic.
She holds a Diploma in Holistic Massage, a Manual Lymphatic Drainage certificate and additional training in Oncology Lymphatic care. She is a member of the Irish Massage Therapists Association.
